It’s a step back in time you won’t want to miss. Guided tours of the full size replica of Anne Hathaway’s Thatched Cottage are no longer available. You can, however, stroll the Authentic English Village, visit the Olde Curiosity Shop for gifts, partake of food and refreshment in the restaurant or pub, in the Olde England Inn, where the cottage is located. It’s all set on 5 acres of beautiful gardens, just 10 minutes from downtown. One way to see the interior of the cottage is to book it for a special function.

Baby Orca breached!

The open air market on Salt Spring Island was a unique and fun experience. The arts and crafts stores in Ganges were a delight to discover. We enjoyed the fresh air, the natural scenery and the Dahl’s porpoises along the way. The ride back to Victoria was even more scenic as we boated through the channel and under the old wooden bridge between the Pender Islands. Going home the long way through the San Juans and around the bottom of San Juan Island was an excellent choice. We saw Orcas and a recently born baby orca breach out of the water! The boat is very comfortable and Dieter knows the waters like a seasoned mariner. We really appreciated having the zodiac all to ourselves and not being on any schedule. This was the best trip to Victoria ever! See you again next year for another adventure.

Tall Ships in the local News

Good, clean, cannon battle fun

Story Credit:

Watch the Lady Washington, the Lynx and Hawaiian Chieftain shoot it out nightly in cannon battles off Brotchie Ledge along Dallas Road at the Tall Ships Festival later this month.

But don’t go expecting to see a live version of what Hollywood puts on the big screen, Lady Washington’s captain Les Bolton says.

There’ll be no gaping holes in the hulls from cannon balls, downed masts, flaming decks and crew swinging aboard the losing ship. That’s strictly Hollywood and far removed from early sea battles.
